What is a Private Yoga Therapy Session?


Yoga therapy adapts the practice of Yoga to the needs of people with specific or persistent health problems not usually addressed in a group class or in a standard sequence.

  Yoga Therapy is an integration of traditional yogic concepts and techniques with Western and psychological knowledge. Yoga therapy comprises a wide range of mind and body practices, from postural and breathing exercises to deep relaxation and meditation. Tailoring these to the health needs of the individual. It helps to promote all-round positive health, as well as assisting particular conditions. Yoga therapy is appropriate for common ailments and many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment. It is also very effective as a complement for Physical Therapy.

Yoga therapy targets specific areas or conditions. Some yoga asanas are helpful for one condition while other might not.  Poses adjusted to your body’s needs. There are lots on different ways to do a pose. Depending on what you need to work on.
I  might use adjunct techniques to facilitate your progress such as  fascia release work, energy work among other techniques.  Sometimes a session more closely resembles an appointment with a physical therapist or rehabilitation specialist than it does a typical yoga class. 
Practitioners of many Eastern forms of medicine believe that every illness involves a certain level of energy blockage.  By promoting the flow of prana, or living energy, yoga therapy combats those blockages, restoring the body to health.


Yoga therapy focuses on the path of Yoga as a healing journey that brings balance to the body and mind through an experiential understanding of the primary intention of Yoga: The integration of mind and body.
